What the dealer does — and what you win

An NPC dealer runs each round. You pay for a play, the dealer shuffles the eggs, and guessing the correct cup awards you that egg. From there it leaves the table: you place it in your base to hatch, and once it hatches into an animal, that animal starts generating cash. That's the payoff of every correct pick — the round doesn't just end at the guess, it feeds the rest of the game, because the cash your hatched animals earn is what pays for your future plays.

Tracking the cups through the shuffle

The shuffle is where rounds are won and lost. Recorded runs show three cup positions in play — left, middle, and right — shuffling continuously until the pick, with players following their egg by position: "to the left, to the middle, and to the right. To the middle, and it's right there." Two things make it harder than a one-time glance: speed and switching. In observed play, the shuffle speeds up as the value of the round goes up — on faster rounds, "things are moving a lot faster" — and cups can switch during the shuffle, so you have to keep watching in case yours moves. Sustained attention from the first movement to the last is the core skill of the round.

What a wrong pick costs

A wrong guess loses the cash you committed to the round. In gameplay footage, a player who lost track of the cup on a high-value play guessed wrong and watched the stake vanish — "All of our money disappears. Just like it's nothing" — and a later miss drew the reaction "I just wasted so much money." The exact loss rule isn't documented in detail — for example, whether every round stakes the full displayed cost — so the safe assumption is that whatever you pay to play is what a miss takes. Treat every pick as cash on the table.
